oordinating Politics and Security Minister Gen. (hon) Djamari Chaniago visited two regions in Riau Islands in a two-day visit to inspect troops in the border area and check the alleged minerals smuggling foiled by the Indonesian Navy.

Djamari was accompanied by Indonesian Navy chief of staff Adm. Muhammad Ali during his visits in Riau Islands, as well as Marine Corps commanding general Lt. Gen. Endi Supardi and the First Fleet Command (Koarmada I) commander Rear Adm. Haris Bima Bayuseto.

The entourage arrived at Raden Sadjad Air Force Base in Ranai, Natuna, on Thursday on board a Gulfstream IV charter aircraft owned by PT Transwisata Prima Aviation.

Riau Islands Vice Governor Nyanyang Haris Pratamara and Natuna Regent Cen Sui Lan, as well as other regional leaders, welcomed Djamari’s entourage.

The itineraries in Natuna included the Koarmada I’s Sea Battle Task Force (Guspurla) headquarters, the Red and White Fishermen’s Village in Cemaga village and the Composite Battalion 1/Gardapati.

Gardapati is the Indonesian Army’s first multiple-corps composite battalion consisting of one headquarter company, two rifle companies, one combat engineering company, one rocket field artillery battery and one air defense battery.
