he Indonesian Military (TNI) is investigating the theft of 16 cows in Labuhanbatu regency, North Sumatra, allegedly involving Army soldiers in a recent viral video.
Military District Command (Kodim) 0209/Labuhanbatu commander Lt. Col. Hanung Kaptiaji said his office had coordinated with Labuhanbatu Police to investigate the case, while tracing the video’s accuracy.
“We are still studying the case, if there is any soldier involved in the case, we will arrest them,” he told The Jakarta Post on Tuesday.
He said the case was being processed by the police and that both parties involved in the case had each filed a police report. He added that he had met both disputing parties to find out what the issue was.
The dispute started from a joint cow breeding operation conducted by J and MS since May 2025.
After a while, Hanung said both parties parted ways over differences related to the ownership of the cows. The dispute escalated with two emerging camps of opposing supporters in Sei Siarti village, Central Panai district, Labuhanbatu regency.
“This is purely a dispute of cow ownership between J and MS. There is no involvement of the Army here,” he said.
