Women purchase Minyakita cooking oil on April 7, 2026, during a low-cost food program in Cisalak, Depok, West Java. The Depok city administration, in cooperation with State Logistics Agency (Bulog), organized the event, offering various staple foods below market prices to help ease the burden on residents. ood authorities conducted a sudden inspection at a market in Pekanbaru, Riau, after a shortage of cooking oil Minyakita caused its price to skyrocket from a maximum retail price (HET) of Rp 15,700 (90 US cents) to Rp 22,000 per liter.
A team from the National Food Agency (Bapanas) led by food availability director Indra Wijayanto inspected Pasar Pagi Arengka, a traditional market in Panam area together with food task forces from Pekanbaru city administration, Riau provincial administration and Riau Police food task force.
There were 17 stalls in the market receiving supplies from state-owned food public corporation Perum Bulog but none of them were able to sell Minyakita due to running out of stock.
Several other traders were found to have sold Minyakita above the HET but said the supplier was a private distributor and not State Logistics Agency (Bulog). The distributor reportedly sold Minyakita at Rp 19,000 per liter, so the traders added to it for profit.
Recently Bulog sent reprimand letters to three stalls, with a copy to Riau Police, for selling Minyakita above HET. Responding to the reprimands, the traders requested an additional quota for Minyakita because they only received 60 boxes per week.
Indra warned all traders not to increase the price of Minyakita because the subsidized cooking oil is intended for poor households.
“Minyakita is not a premium cooking oil, this is for poor residents. Don’t increase the price,” he said.
