anado Marriott Resort & Spa is set to introduce Marriott Hotels’ brand signature hospitality to North Sulawesi as the region’s first internationally branded beachfront resort as it is set to open its doors in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Located in Paputungan village in Likupang, one of Indonesia’s Super Priority Tourism Destinations, the resort is positioned approximately one hour from Sam Ratulangi International Airport and just 50 kilometers from Manado city, serving as the ideal gateway for travelers seeking to experience the region through the comfort, service and trusted hospitality synonymous with Marriott Hotels’ brand.

“North Sulawesi is one of Indonesia’s most remarkable yet underexplored destinations, where extraordinary marine experiences are complemented by a rich cultural heritage and genuine local hospitality,” said Oriol Marquez, general manager of Manado Marriott Resort & Spa.

“As we prepare to welcome our guests, we look forward to introducing travelers to the destination through experiences that celebrate the beauty of Likupang, the traditions of the Minahasan people and the exceptional service that Marriott Hotels’ brand is known for.”

Just beyond the resort lies Bunaken National Marine Park, internationally recognized for its spectacular underwater biodiversity, dramatic coral walls descending to depths of up to 50 meters, vibrant coral gardens and thriving marine life, including green sea turtles and hundreds of tropical fish species.

Guests can spend their days embarking on sunrise boat excursions, diving into world-class scuba diving, snorkeling in crystal-clear waters, or discovering the quieter beaches and untouched coastal scenery surrounding Likupang.

Yet the destination’s appeal reaches well beyond its celebrated coastline. North Sulawesi is equally defined by the enduring traditions of the Minahasan people, whose rich cultural heritage continues to shape the region’s identity today.

From the powerful Kabasaran warrior dance and generations-old artisanal craftsmanship to vibrant local markets and bold culinary traditions influenced by the historic spice trade, the destination offers visitors an immersive journey into one of Indonesia’s most distinctive cultural landscapes.

These authentic influences are reflected throughout the guest experience at Manado Marriott Resort & Spa. Designed with modern coastal interiors, natural textures and expansive ocean views, the resort creates a seamless connection between contemporary comfort and its surrounding environment.

More than a beachfront retreat, the property has been envisioned as a living gateway to North Sulawesi, encouraging guests to experience the destination through locally inspired dining, curated cultural encounters, holistic wellness experiences and meaningful connections with the surrounding community.

Featuring 344 thoughtfully appointed guestrooms, suites and private villas, the resort will be complemented by multiple dining venues, extensive meeting and event facilities, wellness experiences and direct access to Likupang’s pristine coastline.

As North Sulawesi enters a new chapter of global travel, Manado Marriott Resort & Spa stands as a catalyst for sustainable destination growth and meaningful discovery. By combining Marriott Hotels’ brand globally recognized community partnerships, the resort offers travelers an inspiring new way to experience one of Indonesia’s most captivating coastal destinations.
